Kitchen remodel cost in Orlando for 2026: refresh, mid-range and high-end ranges, what drives the price, and the hidden costs in Florida kitchens.

As of October 2026, a kitchen remodel in the Orlando area typically costs $15,000 to $35,000 for a cosmetic refresh, $35,000 to $75,000 for a mid-range full remodel, and $75,000 to $150,000 or more for high-end work or a layout change. These are installed planning ranges (labor and materials) for Orange, Seminole, Osceola and Lake counties. Where your project falls depends on cabinet grade, countertop material, whether plumbing or walls move, and what is found behind the old cabinets.
| Scope | Typical Orlando range (2026) | What it usually includes |
|---|---|---|
| Cosmetic refresh | $15,000 to $35,000 | Same layout: paint, refinish or reface cabinets, new counters, backsplash, sink, faucet, lighting |
| Mid-range full remodel | $35,000 to $75,000 | New stock or semi-custom cabinets, quartz or granite, tile backsplash, flooring, lighting, appliances, layout mostly unchanged |
| High-end or layout change | $75,000 to $150,000+ | Custom cabinetry, moved plumbing or walls, premium appliances |
| Small kitchen (70 to 100 sq ft) | $15,000 to $45,000 | Full remodel of a compact kitchen such as an 8x10 |
This page is our main Orlando kitchen cost guide. It explains the tiers, the factors that move a project up or down, and the costs homeowners do not see coming. If you want to know what a specific budget buys, see what $10,000, $30,000 or $50,000 gets you. For a line-by-line split, see the kitchen remodel cost breakdown.
The three kitchen remodel tiers in Orlando
Cosmetic refresh: $15,000 to $35,000
A refresh keeps the cabinet boxes, the layout and the plumbing where they are. The money goes into what you see and touch every day:
- Cabinets painted, refinished, or refaced with new doors and drawer fronts
- New countertops, often quartz or granite
- A new tile backsplash
- New sink, faucet and lighting
This tier works well when the cabinet boxes are solid and the layout already suits you. Cabinet refacing alone for an average kitchen typically runs $7,000 to $15,000, which is why it shows up in most refresh budgets. On-site work usually takes 1 to 3 weeks.
Mid-range full remodel: $35,000 to $75,000
This is the tier most Orlando homeowners mean when they say “remodel the kitchen.” Everything comes out down to the walls and subfloor, but the sink, range and refrigerator stay roughly where they are. Typical scope:
- New stock or semi-custom cabinets
- Quartz or granite countertops
- Tile backsplash
- New flooring and lighting
- A new appliance package
Staying close to the existing layout is what keeps this tier from climbing into the next one. Plan on 4 to 8 weeks on site.
High-end or layout change: $75,000 to $150,000+
Projects move into this range when the plan changes, the materials go custom, or both:
- Custom cabinetry built to the room
- Moving the sink, range or gas line
- Removing or opening walls, especially load-bearing ones
- Premium appliance packages, which alone can run $15,000 or more
Many projects in this tier are kitchens being opened to a family room, or kitchens in larger homes where the cabinet run and the island are simply bigger.
What drives kitchen remodel cost in Orlando
Cabinets
Cabinets are usually the largest line, roughly 30 to 40 percent of a full kitchen budget. The grade (stock, semi-custom or custom), the box material, the door style and the number of drawers and pull-outs all add up. Refacing is the main way to cut this line: it usually costs 40 to 50 percent less than comparable new cabinets. Our cabinet refacing page explains when the boxes are worth keeping.
Countertops
Installed countertop prices run from about $25 per square foot for laminate to $200 or more for marble and quartzite. A typical 40 to 60 square foot kitchen in quartz comes to about $3,000 to $7,000. Islands, waterfall ends and full-height backsplashes in the same stone add square footage fast.
Appliances
An entry appliance package runs about $3,000 to $6,000, mid-range $6,000 to $15,000, and premium $15,000 and up. Because this line can swing by $10,000 or more on its own, decide on the appliance level early. Cabinet openings are built around the appliance sizes you choose.
Layout changes
Moving a sink or other plumbing typically costs $1,500 to $4,000 or more. Most Central Florida homes are slab-on-grade, so moving a drain means cutting and trenching the concrete floor, then patching it. Removing a non-load-bearing wall runs $1,000 to $3,000 plus patching, while a load-bearing wall with a beam and engineering runs $5,000 to $15,000 or more.
Size
A bigger kitchen means more cabinet boxes, more countertop square footage, more flooring and more lighting. Our cost by size and material guide shows how footprint and finish choices interact.
Backsplash
Backsplash tile installed runs $20 to $60 per square foot. Ceramic and subway tile sit at the low end; glass, mosaic and natural stone at the high end. Most Orlando kitchens spend $1,000 to $3,000 total.
Hidden costs in Orlando kitchens
Most budget surprises come from what is behind the old cabinets and under the old floor. These are the ones we see most in Central Florida homes:
- Old plumbing. Many older Orlando-area homes still have galvanized steel or polybutylene supply lines. Once the walls are open, replacing them is often the smart call, and it was not in the original price.
- Water damage. A slow leak under a sink or behind a dishwasher can rot the subfloor or cabinet base and leave mold on the drywall. It has to be fixed before new cabinets go in.
- Electrical upgrades. Current electrical code calls for GFCI protection on countertop outlets and dedicated circuits for several appliances. Older kitchens often need new circuits, and sometimes the panel has no room for them.
- Ventilation. Venting a range hood to the outside is worth it in Florida humidity, but running a new duct through a wall or roof adds labor and may need a permit.
- Slab work. Any drain move on a slab means concrete cutting. Even a small shift of the sink can add to the cost.
- Permits. Fees are set by each city or county fee schedule, usually based on the job’s value. A licensed contractor includes them in the estimate.
A good estimate names these risks up front and explains how they would be priced if found. Keep some room in your budget rather than spending the full amount on finishes.
How long each tier takes
| Scope | Design, selections, ordering | On-site work |
|---|---|---|
| Cosmetic refresh | 3 to 8 weeks | 1 to 3 weeks |
| Small kitchen full remodel | 3 to 8 weeks | 3 to 6 weeks |
| Full remodel | 3 to 8 weeks | 4 to 8 weeks |
Cabinet lead times drive the front end, and custom cabinets take longer. Permit review adds time and varies by jurisdiction. Our Orlando kitchen remodeling page walks through how we schedule each phase.
How to set your number
- Pick the tier first. Decide whether you are refreshing, replacing in the same layout, or changing the layout. That single decision sets most of the range.
- Choose the appliance level. Entry, mid-range or premium can move the budget by thousands.
- Decide on cabinets. Reface, stock, semi-custom or custom.
- Get a measured estimate. Online calculators cannot see your slab, your plumbing or your walls. A written estimate after an in-home measure can.
If the number is tight, the biggest savings come from keeping the layout, refacing instead of replacing cabinets, and choosing a mid-range appliance package.
