As of October 2026, kitchen remodeling in Orlando typically costs $15,000 to $45,000 for a small kitchen of 70 to 100 square feet, and for kitchens of any size $15,000 to $35,000 for a cosmetic refresh, $35,000 to $75,000 for a mid-range full remodel and $75,000 to $150,000 or more for high-end work or a layout change. Within each tier, the two things that move the price most are how big the kitchen is (cabinet runs and countertop square footage) and which materials you choose. This guide shows both.

Kitchen and scopeTypical Orlando range (2026)
Small kitchen (70 to 100 sq ft), full remodel$15,000 to $45,000
Any size, cosmetic refresh$15,000 to $35,000
Average to large, mid-range full remodel$35,000 to $75,000
Large or high-end, custom or layout change$75,000 to $150,000+

Kitchen remodeling cost by size

Small kitchens (70 to 100 square feet)

Compact kitchens, galleys and 8x10 rooms are common in older Orlando homes, condos and townhomes. A full remodel typically runs $15,000 to $45,000. The low end means stock cabinets, laminate or entry granite, and the same layout. The high end means semi-custom cabinets, quartz, a tile backsplash, new flooring and lighting, or a moved sink. On-site work usually takes 3 to 6 weeks.

Average-size kitchens

Most Orlando single-family kitchens fall here: an L or U with room for an island or peninsula. A full remodel in the same layout typically lands in the $35,000 to $75,000 mid-range tier. Size moves you within that range through more cabinet boxes, more countertop and more flooring.

Large kitchens and open plans

Large kitchens with long cabinet runs, a big island and a separate pantry wall often reach the $75,000 to $150,000 or more tier, especially with custom cabinets or premium appliances. Opening a kitchen to a family room adds wall removal: $1,000 to $3,000 plus patching for a non-load-bearing wall, or $5,000 to $15,000 or more for a load-bearing one.

Kitchen remodeling cost per square foot

Per-square-foot pricing works for whole-home renovations, but it is a poor tool for kitchens. Here is why, using the small-kitchen range as an example:

Kitchen sizeFull remodel at $15,000Full remodel at $45,000
70 sq ftabout $214 per sq ftabout $643 per sq ft
80 sq ft (8x10)about $188 per sq ftabout $563 per sq ft
100 sq ftabout $150 per sq ftabout $450 per sq ft

The spread is huge because a kitchen’s cost sits in fixed items. A range, refrigerator, dishwasher, sink and the plumbing and wiring to them cost about the same in a 70 square foot kitchen as in a 200 square foot one. Small kitchens therefore cost more per square foot, and a contractor quoting a single per-foot price for a kitchen is guessing. A better way to estimate is to price cabinets, countertops and appliances, then add the labor and finishes around them.

Kitchen remodeling cost by material

Cabinets

Cabinets are usually the largest line, about 30 to 40 percent of a full remodel. On a mid-range project of $35,000 to $75,000, that is roughly $10,500 to $30,000. Your options:

  • Refinishing or painting: the lowest-cost option when the doors and boxes are in good shape.
  • Refacing: new doors, drawer fronts, veneer on the boxes and new hardware. An average kitchen typically runs $7,000 to $15,000, usually 40 to 50 percent less than comparable new cabinets.
  • Stock cabinets: set sizes and finishes, shortest lead time.
  • Semi-custom: more sizes, finishes and storage inserts.
  • Custom: built to the room, longest lead time, highest cost.

In Florida humidity, box material and finish quality matter. Plywood boxes and well-sealed finishes hold up better near the sink and dishwasher than low-grade particleboard.

Countertops

Installed prices per square foot, and what a typical 40 to 60 square foot kitchen comes to:

MaterialPer sq ft installed40 to 60 sq ft kitchen
Laminate$25 to $50about $1,000 to $3,000
Butcher block$40 to $100about $1,600 to $6,000
Granite$50 to $100about $2,000 to $6,000
Quartz$60 to $120about $3,000 to $7,000
Marble$75 to $200+about $3,000 to $12,000+
Quartzite$80 to $200+about $3,200 to $12,000+

Quartz is a popular choice in Florida kitchens because it needs no sealing and resists staining. Granite is often the lowest-cost natural stone. Our quartz vs granite comparison and countertops page go deeper.

Backsplash

Backsplash tile installed runs $20 to $60 per square foot. Ceramic and subway tile sit at the low end; glass, mosaic and natural stone at the high end. Most Orlando kitchens spend $1,000 to $3,000 total, which matches about 50 square feet of tile across that price range. Running tile to the ceiling on a range or window wall adds square footage.

Appliances

  • Entry package: about $3,000 to $6,000
  • Mid-range package: $6,000 to $15,000
  • Premium: $15,000 and up

A vented range hood is worth budgeting for in Florida. Venting to the outside removes moisture and cooking odors that a recirculating hood leaves behind.

Flooring and lighting

Flooring cost depends on the material, the size of the room and whether the floor continues into adjoining rooms. On a concrete slab, tile and moisture-tolerant vinyl plank are common choices. Lighting cost depends on how many recessed fixtures, under-cabinet runs and new circuits you add. Both are priced from your measurements rather than a flat figure.

How size and material combine

A useful way to see it: size sets the quantity, material sets the unit price, and scope sets how many lines you pay for.

  • A small kitchen in laminate with refaced cabinets stays near the bottom of every range.
  • A small kitchen with semi-custom cabinets and quartz can cost as much as an average kitchen with stock cabinets and granite.
  • A large kitchen with custom cabinets, quartzite and premium appliances is where budgets pass $100,000.

Layout changes sit on top of all of it. Moving a sink or other plumbing costs $1,500 to $4,000 or more because Central Florida homes are mostly slab-on-grade. FAQ

Common questions

Do not see your question? Call us or send the estimate form and we will answer it on the phone.

How much does a kitchen remodel cost per square foot in Orlando?

For a small kitchen of 70 to 100 square feet, a $15,000 to $45,000 full remodel works out to roughly $150 to $640 per square foot. Per-square-foot numbers are a weak guide for kitchens, because cabinets, counters and appliances cost the same whether the floor is large or small. Price by scope and material instead.

How much does it cost to remodel a small kitchen in Orlando?

A full remodel of a small kitchen, about 70 to 100 square feet such as an 8x10, typically costs $15,000 to $45,000 in the Orlando area in 2026. Stock cabinets and laminate or entry granite keep it near the low end; semi-custom cabinets, quartz and a moved sink push it toward the top.

Which countertop material is cheapest for a kitchen remodel?

Laminate is the least expensive at about $25 to $50 per square foot installed, or roughly $1,000 to $3,000 for a 40 to 60 square foot kitchen. Granite starts around $50 per square foot and is often the lowest-cost natural stone. Quartz runs $60 to $120 per square foot.

Does a bigger kitchen always cost more to remodel?

Usually, but not in a straight line. Cost follows the length of cabinet runs, the square footage of countertops and the appliance package more than the floor area. A large kitchen with a simple layout and stock cabinets can cost less than a small kitchen with custom cabinets and a moved sink.

How much do new kitchen cabinets cost compared with refacing?

Refacing an average kitchen typically costs $7,000 to $15,000, which is usually 40 to 50 percent less than comparable new cabinets. New cabinets run about 30 to 40 percent of a full remodel budget, so on a $35,000 to $75,000 mid-range project that is roughly $10,500 to $30,000.
